ABOUT.
Hi, I’m Brandon Southerland, a junior studying Music Business Administration at the University of Tennessee. Music has been a cornerstone of my life for as long as I can remember. Since attending this university, I have cultivated a deep passion for understanding the business side of music, dedicating countless hours to researching licensing, royalties, rights management, and related fields.

My initiative and curiosity drive me to seek continuous learning opportunities. Whether earning certifications, engaging with professional events and workshops, reading influential works like Donald Passman’s All You Need to Know About the Music Business, listening to podcasts such as MuBu, or conducting in-depth research on industry-leading companies, I am committed to developing a well-rounded understanding of the music industry.

As the manager of Burnhouse Band LLC, I’ve gained invaluable hands-on experience. Leading my team to generate over $10,000 in annual revenue has refined my skills in strategic marketing, contract analysis, and event coordination. This role has also given me a comprehensive understanding of live music production, original music composition, engineering, and the importance of networking.

Being a first-generation college student, I bring resilience, collaboration, and a strong work ethic. Navigating the challenges of higher education has reinforced my determination to excel and pursue a meaningful career in the music industry.

Outside of my professional pursuits, I enjoy attending live music events, playing guitar, and honing my skills at chess. I am also passionate about restoring and customizing my van, a project that combines creativity and practical problem-solving.

My ultimate goal is to become a leader and innovator in the music industry. I have the utmost confidence in my willingness to learn, adapt, and put in the work necessary to achieve meaningful change.
